RESUMO

Liver disease is a common and serious threat to human health. The progression of liver diseases is influenced by many physiologic processes, including oxidative stress, inflammation, bile acid metabolism, and autophagy. Various factors lead to the dysfunction of these processes and basing on the different pathogeny, pathology, clinical manifestation, and pathogenesis, liver diseases are grouped into different categories. Specifically, Sirtuin1 (SIRT1), a member of the sirtuin protein family, has been extensively studied in the context of liver injury in recent years and are confirmed the significant role in liver disease. SIRT1 has been found to play a critical role in regulating key processes in liver injury. Further, SIRT1 seems to cause divers outcomes in different types of liver diseases. Recent studies have showed some therapeutic strategies involving modulating SIRT1, which may bring a novel therapeutic target. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying the role of sirtuin1 in liver injury and its potentiality as a therapeutic target, this review outlines the key signaling pathways associated with sirtuin1 and liver injury, and discusses recent advances in therapeutic strategies targeting sirtuin1 in liver diseases.

OBJECTIVE: Uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), a kind of gynecologic malignancy, poses a significant risk to women's health. The precise mechanism underlying the development of UCEC remains elusive. Zinc finger protein 554 (ZNF554), a member of the Krüppel-associated box domain zinc finger protein superfamily, was reported to be dysregulated in various illnesses, including malignant tumors. This study aimed to examine the involvement of ZNF554 in the development of UCEC. METHODS: The expression of ZNF554 in UCEC tissues and cell lines were examined by qRT-PCR and Western blot assay. Cells with stably overexpressed or knocked-down ZNF554 were established through lentivirus infection. CCK-8, wound healing, and Transwell invasion assays were employed to assess cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Propidium iodide (PI) staining combined with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) flow cytometer was utilized to detect cell cycle distribution. qRT-PCR and Western blotting were conducted to examine relative mRNA and protein levels. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assay and luciferase reporter assay were used to explore the regulatory role of ZNF554 in RNA binding motif 5 (RBM5). RESULTS: The expression of ZNF554 was found to be reduced in both UCEC samples and cell lines. Decreased expression of ZNF554 was associated with higher tumor stage, decreased overall survival, and reduced disease-free survival in UCEC. ZNF554 overexpression suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while also inducing cell cycle arrest. In contrast, a decrease in ZNF554 expression resulted in the opposite effect. Mechanistically, ZNF554 transcriptionally regulated RBM5, leading to the deactivation of the Wingless (WNT)/ß-catenin signaling pathway. Moreover, the findings from rescue studies demonstrated that the inhibition of RBM5 negated the impact of ZNF554 overexpression on ß-catenin and p-glycogen synthase kinase-3ß (p-GSK-3ß). Similarly, the deliberate activation of RBM5 reduced the increase in ß-catenin and p-GSK-3ß caused by the suppression of ZNF554. In vitro experiments showed that ZNF554 overexpression-induced decreases in cell proliferation and migration were counteracted by RBM5 knockdown. Additionally, when RBM5 was overexpressed, it hindered the improvements in cell proliferation and migration caused by reducing the ZNF554 levels. CONCLUSION: ZNF554 functions as a tumor suppressor in UCEC. Furthermore, ZNF554 regulates UCEC progression through the RBM5/WNT/ß-catenin signaling pathway. ZNF554 shows a promise as both a prognostic biomarker and a therapeutic target for UCEC.

Catalytic asymmetric 1,2-allylation of aurone-derived azadienes is very difficult to achieve due to the driving force for aromatization and the greater steric hindrance of 1,2-addition compared with 1,4-addition. By taking advantage of the ability of nitrogen ligated metal complexes, we successfully demonstrated the first example of copper-catalyzed 1,2-allylation of azadienes with allylboronates for the highly enantioselective synthesis of homoallylic amines. Meanwhile, the enantioenriched 1,4-addition products could also be obtained through a subsequent 3,3-sigmatropic rearrangement of the 1,2-addition products. Extensive DFT calculations were carried out to elucidate the origins of high regioselectivity (1,2- vs 1,4-) and enantioselectivity.

Herein, polysiloxane-based aggregation-induced emission (AIE) polymers and rubbers were prepared which display interesting multi-stimuli responsive fluorescence. TPE-modified polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS-TPE) as polysiloxane-based AIE polymers were synthesized through Heck reaction of bromo-substituted tetraphenylethene (TPE-Br) and vinyl polysiloxanes. As expected, TPE moiety endows the modified polysiloxane with typical AIE behavior. However, limited by the long polymer chains, the aggregation process of PDMS-TPE shows obvious differences compared with the small molecule TPE-Br. The fluorescence of PDMS-TPE in THF/H2O starts to increase when the H2O fraction (fw) is 70% while TPE-Br is nearly non-luminous until the fw is up to 99%. The fluorescence intensity ratio (I/I0) of PDMS-TPE in the aggregated state and dispersed state is over 1300, greater than that of TPE-Br (I/I0 = 380). More importantly, the exceptional thermal motion of Si-O-Si chains and AIE characteristic of TPE moiety work together, enabling PDMS-TPE to show specific temperature-dependent fluorescence with a wider response range of room temperature to 190°C, which is distinguished from TPE-Br. And such fluorescence responsiveness possess good fatigue-resistance. Furthermore, fluorescent silicone rubbers, r-PDMS-TPE were prepared by using PDMS-TPE as additive of the base gum. They display interesting solvent-controllable fluorescence and higher tensile strength (4.42 MPa) than the control sample without TPE component (1.96 MPa). Notably, a unique stretching-enhanced emission (SEE) phenomenon is observed from these TPE-modified silicone rubbers. When being stretched, the rubbers' fluorescent emission intensity could increase by 143%.

To enhance the quality of tobacco leaves and optimize the smoking experience, diverse strains of functional bacteria and their associated metabolites have been used in tobacco aging. Exogenous cellulase additives are frequently employed to facilitate the degradation of cellulose and other macromolecular matrices and enhance the quality of the tobacco product. However, little is known about how microbial metabolites present in exogenous enzyme additives affect tobacco quality. In this study, crude cellulase solutions, produced by a tobacco-originating bacterium Bacillus subtilis FX-1 were employed on flue-cured tobacco. The incorporation of cellulase solutions resulted in the reduction of cellulose crystallinity in tobacco and the enhancement of the overall sensory quality of tobacco. Notably, tobacco treated with cellulase obtained from laboratory flask fermentation demonstrated superior scent and flavor attributes in comparison to tobacco treated with enzymes derived from industrial bioreactor fermentation. The targeted and untargeted metabolomic analysis revealed the presence of diverse flavor-related precursors and components in the cellulase additives, encompassing sugars, alcohols, amino acids, organic acids, and others. The majority of these metabolites exhibited significantly higher levels in the flask group compared to the bioreactor group, probably contributing to a pronounced enhancement in the sensory quality of tobacco. Our findings suggest that the utilization of metabolic products derived from B. subtilis FX-1 as additives in flue-cured tobacco holds promise as a viable approach for enhancing sensory attributes, establishing a solid theoretical foundation for the potential development of innovative tobacco aging additives.

Liver microsomal stability, a crucial aspect of metabolic stability, significantly impacts practical drug discovery. However, current models for predicting liver microsomal stability are based on limited molecular information from a single species. To address this limitation, we constructed the largest public database of compounds from three common species: human, rat, and mouse. Subsequently, we developed a series of classification models using both traditional descriptor-based and classic graph-based machine learning (ML) algorithms. Remarkably, the best-performing models for the three species achieved Matthews correlation coefficients (MCCs) of 0.616, 0.603, and 0.574, respectively, on the test set. Furthermore, through the construction of consensus models based on these individual models, we have demonstrated their superior predictive performance in comparison with the existing models of the same type. To explore the similarities and differences in the properties of liver microsomal stability among multispecies molecules, we conducted preliminary interpretative explorations using the Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) and atom heatmap approaches for the models and misclassified molecules. Additionally, we further investigated representative structural modifications and substructures that decrease the liver microsomal stability in different species using the matched molecule pair analysis (MMPA) method and substructure extraction techniques. The established prediction models, along with insightful interpretation information regarding liver microsomal stability, will significantly contribute to enhancing the efficiency of exploring practical drugs for development.

With the rapid development of the world city network, the traditional location theory has gradually been disproven, and the advantages of the flow space over the traditional vertical organizational structure are gradually being revealed. Therefore, from corporate branch networks and corporate investment networks, 21 cities in urban agglomerations of Guangdong are taken as case studies for this paper. Furthermore, in this paper, 5 representative types of corporate contact data (catering service, financial service, life service, sports and leisure and accommodation service) are selected, the social network analysis (SNA) method is used to quantitatively analyze the network structure characteristics of urban agglomerations, and a spatial interaction model is constructed to explore the factors influencing. The results indicate that secondary networks have developed in Guangdong. The financial service network is the most complex, followed by the life services, sports and leisure and catering networks. The accommodation service network structure is the simplest. Among all kinds of networks, Guangzhou and Shenzhen have the highest status. The catering and accommodation corporations in Yangjiang in the west have a relatively major external development. Shantou in the east has many branches of various types, while most of the capital exchange in the region is concentrated in Heyuan and Qingyuan in the north. The coefficients of geographical proximity and the urban development level play a significant role in promoting the development of networks. However, administrative capacity limits the attractiveness of origin cities to a certain extent.

Liver cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer. In the present study, it was demonstrated that translocated promoter region (TPR) was upregulated in tumor tissues and associated with prognosis and immune infiltration in HCC. The clinical outcome of patients with HCC with aberrant expression of TPR was examined using multiple databases, including Gene Expression Omnibus, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression, Kaplan-Meier (KM) Plotter and Xiantao tool. The clinicopathologic characteristics of patients from TCGA database that were associated with overall survival were assessed using Cox regression and KM analysis. The potential hallmarks associated with TPR expression were further predicted by Metascape and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis, and the relationship between TPR and immune infiltration was explored using the Tumor-Immune System Interactions Database and the Tumor Immune Estimation Resource. The results demonstrated that TPR expression was higher in HCC and its overexpression was associated with a worse prognosis, alongside a correlation with several clinical features. Furthermore, cell differentiation, a prospective new hallmark of cancer, was differentially enriched in the high TPR expression phenotype pathway. Moreover, TPR may also modulate the tumor immune microenvironment as it was significantly associated with immunoregulators and chemokines, as well as different tumor infiltration immune cells. According to the in vitro experiments, TPR silencing inhibited the phosphorylation of AKT and the proliferation of HCC cells. In summary, TPR may be a new marker and target for HCC therapy.

Tobacco bacterial wilt (TBW) caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is a serious soil-borne disease, which seriously damages the growth of tobacco crops. Bacillus velezensis A5 was isolated from 3000 m deep-sea sediments of the Pacific Ocean, and was found to be antagonistic to TBW. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain A5, which has a 4,000,699-bp single circular chromosome with 3827 genes and a G + C content of 46.44%, 87 tRNAs, and 27 rRNAs. A total of 12 gene clusters were identified in the genome of strain A5, which were responsible for the biosynthesis of antibacterial compounds, including surfactin, bacillaene, fengycin, difficidin, bacillibactin, and bacilysin. Additionally, strain A5 was found to contain a series of genes related to the biosynthesis of carbohydrate-active enzymes and secreted proteins. Our results indicate that strain A5 can be considered a promising biocontrol agent against TBW in agricultural fields.

Evaluating and understanding the effect of manufacturing processes on the creep performance in superalloys poses a significant challenge due to the intricate composition involved. This study presents a machine-learning strategy capable of evaluating the effect of the heat treatment process on the creep performance of superalloys and predicting creep rupture life with high accuracy. This approach integrates classification and regression models with domain-specific knowledge. The physical constraints lead to significantly enhanced prediction accuracy of the classification and regression models. Moreover, the heat treatment process is evaluated as the most important descriptor by integrating machine learning with superalloy creep theory. The heat treatment design of Waspaloy alloy is used as the experimental validation. The improved heat treatment leads to a significant enhancement in creep performance (5.5 times higher than the previous study). The research provides novel insights for enhancing the precision of predicting creep rupture life in superalloys, with the potential to broaden its applicability to the study of the effects of heat treatment processes on other properties. Furthermore, it offers auxiliary support for the utilization of machine learning in the design of heat treatment processes of superalloys.

The temporal action localization research aims to discover action instances from untrimmed videos, representing a fundamental step in the field of intelligent video understanding. With the advent of deep learning, backbone networks have been instrumental in providing representative spatiotemporal features, while the end-to-end learning paradigm has enabled the development of high-quality models through data-driven training. Both supervised and weakly supervised learning approaches have contributed to the rapid progress of temporal action localization, resulting in a multitude of methods and a large body of literature, making a comprehensive survey a pressing necessity. This paper presents a thorough analysis of existing action localization works, offering a well-organized taxonomy that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each strategy. In the realm of supervised learning, in addition to the anchor mechanism, we introduce a novel classification mechanism to categorize and summarize existing works. Similarly, for weakly supervised learning, we extend the traditional pre-classification and post-classification mechanisms by providing a fresh perspective on enhancement strategies. Furthermore, we shed light on the bottleneck of confidence estimation, a critical yet overlooked aspect of current works. By conducting detailed analyses, this survey serves as a valuable resource for researchers, providing beneficial guidance to newcomers and inspiring seasoned researchers alike.

MTU1 controls intramitochondrial protein synthesis by catalyzing the 2-thiouridine modification of mitochondrial transfer RNAs (mt-tRNAs). Missense mutations in the MTU1 gene are associated with life-threatening reversible infantile hepatic failure. However, the molecular pathogenesis is not well understood. Here, we investigated 17 mutations associated with this disease, and our results showed that most disease-related mutations are partial loss-of-function mutations, with three mutations being particularly severe. Mutant MTU1 is rapidly degraded by mitochondrial caseinolytic peptidase (CLPP) through a direct interaction with its chaperone protein CLPX. Notably, knockdown of CLPP significantly increased mutant MTU1 protein expression and mt-tRNA 2-thiolation, suggesting that accelerated proteolysis of mutant MTU1 plays a role in disease pathogenesis. In addition, molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated that disease-associated mutations may lead to abnormal intermolecular interactions, thereby impairing MTU1 enzyme activity. Finally, clinical data analysis underscores a significant correlation between patient prognosis and residual 2-thiolation levels, which is partially consistent with the AlphaMissense predictions. These findings provide a comprehensive understanding of MTU1-related diseases, offering prospects for modification-based diagnostics and novel therapeutic strategies centered on targeting CLPP.

The immature winter flush affects the flower bud differentiation, flowering and fruit of litchi, and then seriously reduces the yield of litchi. However, at present, the area estimation and growth process monitoring of winter flush still rely on manual judgment and operation, so it is impossible to accurately and effectively control flush. An efficient approach is proposed in this paper to detect the litchi flush from the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) remoting images of litchi crown and track winter flush growth of litchi tree. The proposed model is constructed based on U-Net network, of which the encoder is replaced by MobeilNetV3 backbone network to reduce model parameters and computation. Moreover, Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) is integrated and convolutional layer is added to enhance feature extraction ability, and transfer learning is adopted to solve the problem of small data volume. As a result, the Mean Pixel Accuracy (MPA) and Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) on the flush dataset are increased from 90.95% and 83.3% to 93.4% and 85%, respectively. Moreover, the size of the proposed model is reduced by 15% from the original model. In addition, the segmentation model is applied to the tracking of winter flushes on the canopy of litchi trees and investigating the two growth processes of litchi flushes (late-autumn shoots growing into flushes and flushes growing into mature leaves). It is revealed that the growth processes of flushes in a particular branch region can be quantitatively analysed based on the UAV images and the proposed semantic segmentation model. The results also demonstrate that a sudden drop in temperature can promote the rapid transformation of late-autumn shoots into flushes. The method proposed in this paper provide a new technique for accurate management of litchi flush and a possibility for the area estimation and growth process monitoring of winter flush, which can assist in the control operation and yield prediction of litchi orchards.

A nickel-catalyzed three-component alkylarylation of alkenyl N-heteroarenes with α-bromocarboxylates and aryl boronic acids is reported. The protocol provides a new method to access a variety of N-heteroarene substituted diarylalkanes in moderate to good yields. It features mild reaction conditions, cheap nickel catalyst, readily available substrates, and broad substrate scope.

Silicon is regarded as the most promising candidate due to its ultrahigh theoretical energy density (4200 mAh g-1 ). However, the large volume expansion of silicon nanoparticles would result in the destruction of electrodes and a shortened cycle lifetime. Here, inspired by the natural structure of bamboo, the silicon anode with vascular bundle-like structure is proposed to improve the electrochemical performance for the first time. The dense channel wall in the silicon anode can accommodate the volume change of silicon nanoparticles and the transport of ions and electrons is also enhanced. The obtained silicon anodes display excellent mechanical properties (50% compression resilience and the average peel force of 4.34 N) and good wettability. What more, the silicon anodes exhibit high initial coulombic efficiency (94.5%), excellent cycle stability (2100 mAh g-1 after 300 cycles) which stands out among the silicon anodes. Specially, the silicon anode with impressive areal capacity of 36.36 mAh cm-2 and initial coulombic efficiency of 84% is also achieved. This work offers a novel and efficient strategy for the preparation of the flexible electrodes with outstanding performance.

Torsion pendulums are widely used for the measurement of small forces. In this study, we investigated the impact of temperature fluctuations on a torsion pendulum using heating devices to modulate the environmental temperature at different specific frequencies. The response coefficient between the temperature variation and the torque of the torsion pendulum was found to vary at different frequencies, with values from 4 × 10-15 N mK-1 at 0.1 mHz to 3 × 10-13 N mK-1 at 10 mHz. A passive thermal-insulation system was used to reduce the torque response within this frequency band, which is dominated by temperature noise. The results demonstrate that this modulation method provides a useful way to independently investigate the noise in a torsion pendulum resulting from environmental temperature fluctuations over a wide frequency band.

Purpose: To compare the treatment efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) or hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Patients and Methods: 81 unresectable HCC patients were retrospectively analyzed, including 30 or 51 patients treated with either TKIs and PD-1 inhibitors combined with TACE (TTP) or HAIC (HTP), respectively. Tumor response and survival outcomes were compared. Results: The median overall survival (mOS) was 21.0 months in the TTP group and 15.0 months in the HTP group (P = 0.525; HR = 1.23; 95% CI 0.66-2.29). The median progression-free survival (mPFS) was 6.7 months in the TTP group and 9.9 months in the HTP group (P = 0.160; HR = 0.70; 95% CI 0.42-1.16). After Propensity Score Matching (PSM), the mOS was 21.0 months in the TTP group and 18.0 months in the HTP group (P = 0.644; HR = 1.20; 95% CI 0.56-2.58). The mPFS was 6.4 months in the TTP group and 15.0 months in the HTP group (P = 0.028; HR = 0.49; 95% CI 0.26-0.93). The disease control rate in overall response (90.2% vs 76.7%, P = 0.116, before PSM; 91.7% vs 75.0%, P = 0.121, after PSM) and intrahepatic response (94.1% vs 80.0%, P = 0.070, before PSM; 91.7% vs 79.2%, P = 0.220, after PSM) were higher in the HTP group than in the TTP group. Conclusion: Though including more advanced tumors, the clinical outcomes of HAIC combined with TKIs and PD-1 inhibitors are comparable to TACE-based combination therapy for unresectable HCC. Nevertheless, HTP significantly improved the PFS benefits in HCC patients with with large tumor burden or vascular invasion.

Chalcogenides, which refer to chalcogen anions, have attracted considerable attention in multiple fields of applications, such as optoelectronics, thermoelectrics, transparent contacts, and thin-film transistors. In comparison to oxide counterparts, chalcogenides have demonstrated higher mobility and p-type dopability, owing to larger orbital overlaps between metal-X covalent chemical bondings and higher-energy valence bands derived by p-orbitals. Despite the potential of chalcogenides, the number of successfully synthesized compounds remains relatively low compared to that of oxides, suggesting the presence of numerous unexplored chalcogenides with fascinating physical characteristics. In this study, we implemented a systematic high-throughput screening process combined with first-principles calculations on ternary chalcogenides using 34 crystal structure prototypes. We generated a computational material database containing over 400,000 compounds by exploiting the ion-substitution approach at different atomic sites with elements in the periodic table. The thermodynamic stabilities of the candidates were validated using the chalcogenides included in the Open Quantum Materials Database. Moreover, we trained a model based on crystal graph convolutional neural networks to predict the thermodynamic stability of novel materials. Furthermore, we theoretically evaluated the electronic structures of the stable candidates using accurate hybrid functionals. A series of in-depth characteristics, including the carrier effective masses, electronic configuration, and photovoltaic conversion efficiency, was also investigated. Our work provides useful guidance for further experimental research in the synthesis and characterization of such chalcogenides as promising candidates, as well as charting the stability and optoelectronic performance of ternary chalcogenides.

To determine the efficacy of supramolecular salicylic acid combined with doxycycline on acne, totally 70 patients with acne treated in our dermatology department from May 2020 to May 2021 were enrolled and randomized (1:1) into control or experimental groups using the random number table method. The control group was given doxycycline for oral administration while the experimental group was given oral doxycycline combined with supramolecular salicylic acid for topical administration. The overall effective rate of treatment was significantly higher in the experimental group versus control group (97.14% vs. 82.86%, P<0.05). Patients in the control group had significantly longer mean acne regression time after treatment versus experimental group (P<0.05). After treatment, patients in the experimental group had significantly lower self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores and self-perceived burden (SPB) scores than the control group, while Short Form 36-item health survey (SF-36) scores were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The overall incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower in the experimental group versus control group (5.71% vs. 17.14%, P<0.05). Supramolecular salicylic acid in combination with doxycycline in the treatment of patients with acne is an optimal option, as it could better promote acne regression, reduce the level of depression and reduce the patient's self-perceived burden.

Starch is an essential factor affecting the quality of flue-cured tobacco, and high starch content can affect the sensory quality and safety. Recently, the degradation of macromolecules in tobacco raw materials by using additional microorganisms to improve their intrinsic quality and safety has become a new research hotspot in the tobacco industry. However, the technical maturity and application scale are limited. Our study analyzed the correlation between microbial community composition and volatile components on the surface of tobacco leaves from 14 different grades in Fujian tobacco-producing areas. The PICRUSt software was utilized to predict the function of the microbial community present in tobacco leaves. Furthermore, dominant strains that produced amylase were screened out, and an enzyme solution was prepared to enhance the flue-cured tobacco flavor. Changes in the content of macromolecules and volatile components were determined, and sensory evaluations were conducted to assess the overall quality of the tobacco leaves. The results showed that the dominant bacterial genera on the surface of Fujian tobacco leaves were Variovorax, Sphingomonas, Bacillus, etc. Bacillus was positively correlated with various volatile components, which contributed to the sweet and aromatic flavors of Fujian flue-cured tobacco. The main genetic functions of Fujian flue-cured tobacco surface bacteria were carbohydrate metabolism and amino acid metabolism. After treating flue-cured tobacco with an enzyme preparation prepared by the fermentation of Paenibacillus amylolyticus A17 #, the content of starch, pectin, and cellulose in flue-cured tobacco decreased significantly compared with the control group. Meanwhile, the content of total soluble sugar and reducing sugar was significantly increased, and the volatile aroma components, such as 3-hydroxy--damascone, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-4 H-Pyran-4-one, ethyl palmitate, ethyl linolenic acid, etc., were significantly increased. The aroma quality and quantity of flue-cured tobacco were enhanced, while impurities were reduced. The smoke characteristics were improved, with increased fineness, concentration, and moderate strength. The taste characteristics were also improved, with reduced irritation and a better aftertaste. In conclusion, Bacillus, as the dominant genus in the abundance of bacterial communities on tobacco surfaces in Fujian, had an essential impact on the flavor of tobacco leaves by participating in carbohydrate metabolism and finally forming the unique flavor style of flue-cured tobacco in Fujian tobacco-producing areas. Paenibacillus amylolyticus A17 #, a target strain with amylase-producing ability, was screened from the surface of Fujian flue-cured tobacco. The enzyme preparation, produced by the fermentation of Paenibacillus amylolyticus A17 #, was utilized to reduce the content of macromolecules, increase the content of water-soluble total sugar and reducing sugar, and produce a variety of crucial volatile aroma components, which had a significant improvement on the quality of tobacco leaves.
